Hit The Floor returned this summer for one episode only. Unfortunately for us, VH1 still hasn’t announced if they will be continuing the show or not, so we had to cling on to this one episode. If you’re a fan, you’ll know the show has a habit of keeping us waiting before the season premieres, so this episode was much awaited.
There was one question on everyone’s mind after the finale in March “WHO SHOT JELENA?”. It wasn’t a matter of ‘will she be okay’, or ‘is Jelena alive’ because Hit The Floor would be nothing without Jelena Howard, and that’s a fact. The summer special answered that for us, and ladies and gentlemen, Sloane shot Jelena. When Jelena confronted her shooter and I saw Sloane in front of her, I wasn’t just shocked, I was angry. First of all that they told us who shot her that early, and secondly that it was SLOANE! I mean come on, it would have been so much more interesting if it was anyone else. To make things worse, her near death experience seems to have softened her up a bit. Jelena Howard, resident bitch at the LA Devils, decided to let the person who shot her go, and on top of that, let Derek leave. WUT? Who wrote that? I reject this type of character development. I don’t know what’s happening but I don’t like it.
Season 3 ended with Dersha planning on eloping but then Ahsha being a no-show. The summer special reveals that Ahsha was just dancing her frustrations at Jelena away. Derek then suggests that they have a normal wedding, in front of all their friends and loved ones. It really happened guys, the Dersha fairytale wedding happened. Dersha are cute, no one can deny that, and I get that they’re in love and everything but can they keep their hands off each other for just one scene? It’s getting a bit old watching them jump on each other after every conversation they have. After the wedding, since Jelena decided to let them go, the newlywed head to Miami at the end of the episode. I don’t know how this is going to work since the show is about the LA Devils, but obviously they’re going to make a return.
In case you were wondering what happened to the other characters, thankfully Pete didn’t die. Oh and Lionel. I don’t think we would have missed her too much if she did. Jude and Zero are as cute as ever, building a house together and whatnot, and Jude catching Ahsha’s bouquet. Kyle was maid of honour, and had to find Miguel a home. I was really looking forward to Kyle taking him in and seeing what she’d be like as a mother, but because the writers are making some drastic changes to her, Jelena took in Miguel. I may sound a bit disappointed but the truth is, it’s only right that Jelena took Miguel. Before she died, Jelena told Raquel that she was scared of being alone. Miguel coming to Jelena is like Raquel leaving her with a gift so she would never be alone. Also because Jelena can’t have children, this would at least allow her to be a mother.
The episode pretty much answered all our questions after the March finale. The only question it left now is ‘is this the end?’. Everything felt so rushed and they left absolutely no cliffhangers. It was like they were saying goodbye and I’m just not ready for that yet.
